Build the base
Excavate, compact, and drain. Class II and fines in the right order. Edges in steel or pavers so the carpet does not wander in year two.

Stretch, seam, groom
Seams hidden, grain consistent, infill brushed in. You get a walkthrough and a lawn that is ready the same afternoon.

Phoenix turf fails from heat and standing water, not from “the wrong brand” alone. West-facing yards cook. Pool decks reflect. Dogs concentrate traffic in a ten-foot strip by the slider. We spec UV-stable, dense products rated for desert sun, choose infill that does not turn the surface into a griddle, and keep the field from ponding against the stem wall.
Water is the other half. A living lawn in the Valley is a monthly bill and a weekend chore. Turf cuts irrigation to the planting pockets only. That is the point — not a plastic rug that looks tired in year one. Drainage has to be honest: we pitch away from the house, use a base that actually percs, and do not trap monsoon water under a backing that cannot breathe.

What goes in the ground
We buy turf systems that belong in Arizona, not remnants that happened to be on sale. Typical builds include:

- Compacted aggregate base and a drainage plane that can take a monsoon
- Steel, concrete, or paver edging that holds a line in expansive soil

- Seaming tape and adhesives rated for high heat — no grocery-store glue
- Optional foam or shock pad for play areas when the job calls for it
Questions
Will artificial turf get too hot in Phoenix?+
It gets warm. Everything in Phoenix gets warm. A dense, lighter blade on a drained base stays usable. Dark bargain turf on dirt does not. We spec for heat and talk through shade, orientation, and infill before you buy.
Can you do a putting green or just a play lawn?+
Both. Putting greens need a different pile and a flatter grade. Play lawns need a blade that stands up to dogs and kids. We will not stretch a green product across a backyard and call it a green.
How long does a turf install take?+
Most residential lawns land in a few days once the lot is clear and materials are on site. Full yard sequences with pavers and rock take longer because the base work is shared. You get a schedule before we break ground.
